Prove All Things, Hold Fast the Good
On May 5th, 1819, William Ellery Channing preached a sermon in Baltimore that laid out the doctrine of early American Unitarianism. His sermon encouraged hearers to "prove all things," and to hold on to what is good, even while discarding the rest. We'll honor his legacy and ask what the sermon still has to teach us today.
